- THE CAPTAIN: After a life at sea, he inherited the inn ten years ago.
- DAVID deLUSION: He is a writer who authors children’s stories. The deLusion Family is on vacation and staying at the inn.
- DORIS deLUSION: She is a motivational speaker, David’s wife, and the mother of the deLusion twins.
- DANNY and DIXIE deLUSION: They are twins who are certain they will win the top prize in the upcoming science fair, especially if they can uncover the truth about the sea monster.
- TJ DINGHY: He retired to Cranberry Cove six years ago and spends a lot of time diving in the ocean “to prove things.”
- SAM BEAM: He is the lighthouse keeper, and keeps a row boat tied up on the beach. His father and grandfather ran the lighthouse before he took over.
- BERTHA BUSTLE: She is the inn’s housekeeper, and keeps things neat as a pin and knows what the tourists like about Cranberry Cove.
- MARVIN MONEYBAGS: He is a rich young man with plans for the town. He’ll make a lot of money if tourists keep visiting to try to spot the sea monster.
- SUSAN SCOUTABOUT: A reporter for the Cove Chronicle, she is always looking for a good story. Sometimes it’s hard to find exciting news in a quiet place like Cranberry Cove.
