Review

Based on the classic Alfred Hitchcock film of the same name, this board game uses the main premise of the movie. Where the protagonist sees one of his neighbours behaving in a suspicious, potentially nefarious manner. From there the game as with the film, plays out with the other characters helping the protagonist deduce what really happened. But in this game expect a few twists and turns on the way, possibly even a traitor in your midst!

The co-operative, mystery-solving gameplay is similar to the popular Mysterium board game. Whilst the deduction element is also like the Cluedo (Clue) game. However this board game is more involved than the classic Cluedo as it requires you to use logic rather than just pure guessswork or luck to uncover patterns to solve the mystery. You have to work with the other players to decipher which are the correct clue cards dealt by the ‘Director’. This makes the game mechanic more engaging and unique.

In addition to this the design and illustrations of the board, cards and components are beautiful and capture the 1950s theme brilliantly!

Rating: 4.7/5.
